HIGHLIGHTS
- Facebook would help users to maintain up to five profiles
- Helps users to tailor their experiences based on interests and relationship
- Company states that one user can have only one Facebook account with main profile
Well, the change in the product would rather 'help people to tailor their own experience which is based on their interests and relationships,' similarly like posting differing types of content which generally aims toward family versus friends, as mentioned by Meta in a statement.
The company continues to require that every user can only have one Facebook account, with a main profile that would continue to use the person's real name. Well, people would be eligible to access any further profiles they create only after logging into that particular account.
The recent change would grant the users with the formal leeway to semi-anonymize their identity on the world's biggest social network, along with keeping with choices offered by competitors like TikTok, Twitter and Instagram, Meta's own photo and video app.
In one of its statement, Meta has specified its own rules against impersonation and alternative kinds of misleading representations of any identity would still apply to all or any profiles.
According to a Meta's spokesperson the company would be testing the new approaches within different countries, but it had declined to the fact that it would specify which ones they are testing.
